Description
Ismaʿil Raji al-Faruqi (1921–1986) was a Palestinian-American Muslim philosopher and scholar of religion. He contributed to Islamic studies, ethics, and interfaith dialogue, and is known for advancing the Islamization of knowledge and presenting tawhid as a comprehensive worldview. Educated in Jaffa, Beirut, Indiana, and Cairo’s Al-Azhar, he taught at McGill, in Pakistan, Syracuse, and Temple University, where he founded Islamic Studies. A prolific writer, he produced over 100 articles and 25 books. He co-founded IIIT. In 1986, he and his wife Lois Lamya were murdered in Pennsylvania; his intellectual legacy continues.
